Introducing: Cleansing Shower Oil
What is it, how we make ours, and how to use it
In Europe — particularly France — shower oil has long been a daily essential. Walk into a French pharmacy and you'll find shelves of huile lavante, recommended for dry or sensitive skin and used by the whole family. These cleansing oils date back to the early 20th century, born in Mediterranean regions where olive oil was abundant and where harsh synthetic soaps were known to strip the skin.
Only recently has this ritual begun to make its way to the US. We're thrilled to see it arrive and to share our own version with you!
What is a Shower Oil?
Despite the name, a shower oil isn't greasy — because it's not just oil. It's a balanced cleanser that starts as a silky oil, then transforms under warm water into a light, gentle lather. The result is clean, supple skin that feels nourished the moment you step out of the shower.
Think of it as a refined form of body wash — two steps folded into one, cleansing and nourishing at the same time.
How We Make Ours
Our Cleansing Shower Oil is crafted in France, drawing directly from the traditions of Marseille soap-making — a centuries-old craft built around simplicity, quality, and respect for the skin.
We start with a gentle, plant-derived cleansing base, then enrich it with a blend of four oils long prized in Mediterranean skincare:
- Jojoba — deeply moisturizing and remarkably similar to the skin's own natural oils
- Sweet almond — soothing and rich in vitamins A and E
- Argan — renowned for its softening, reparative qualities
- Olive — a timeless emollient that protects and strengthens the skin barrier
To finish, we add a generous dose of natural glycerin — giving the formula its signature richness, a thicker and more luxurious feel, and an extra layer of lasting hydration.
How to Use It (The Daily Ritual)
This can be the first and only product you reach for in the shower — it cleanses and hydrates in a single step. If you prefer a deeper clean, start with a bar soap or body wash, then follow with the shower oil to give your skin a little extra love.
Massage onto damp skin under warm water. Lather gently. Rinse, and step out with skin that feels smooth, hydrated, and quietly cared for — no lotion required (though always welcome).
This one is a personal favorite of ours, and we'd love to hear what you think. Share how you use it, how your skin feels after the first try, and anything you'd like to see from us in the future — we read every comment and are genuinely grateful for each one.

Shower Oil FAQs
Do I use it during or after the shower?
During the shower. It's meant for cleansing, hydrating, and rinsing. If you're looking for an oil to apply after bathing, we recommend our Dry Body Oil.
Will it make my shower slippery?
The formula is intentionally thicker and designed to dispense cleanly with a pump, so it won't spill or spread across the shower floor.
Will it leave my skin oily?
No. It rinses clean and leaves skin soft and comfortable, not slick.
Does it lather?
Yes — gently. Shower oils create a light, creamy lather rather than foam.
Can I replace my regular body wash with this?
Yes, especially for everyday cleansing. When you need a deeper clean, start with a traditional body wash or bar soap, then follow with the shower oil to add back a layer of hydration.
